Exclamation >>Korean Team Names<<

Playing a little PvP this weekend I noticed something that I'd love to see changed.
When our team was bested by; or we beat a Korean team, we had no way of addressing their team aside from color.
I'd like to see their names displayed so that I can give them proper credit.
As it is right now, we see symbols and nothing more.
When their team wins, they get no recognition when victories are known to the outside world.
I'd like to take a poll and see if you guys feel the same way...
I'd much rather see Team Firemonger than *&^%%&*%$

Let's keep this thread about the pro's and con's of doing it rather than why the Korean teams are overrated etc(how would you know they are overrated anyways seeing as we can't tell one team name form another?)

Any thoughts?

Those 'symbols' are their language. Integrating a full translation engine would be a lot more work than is worth it for a low-priority change like this.

That would be hard. I wonder how many of them cannot read ours :P

And remember, there is twice as much English as there is Korean shown in the Hall of Heroes, so a full-translation into Korean would be needed as well. But we can't leave out the other nationalities so...

So what, you can't read their names. If you want to congratulate them, they wouldn't understand you anyway.

Try /congrats in all talk?

It may well display the equivalent of "So-and-so offers congratulations" in Korean.

It's great being able to read both languages.... Some of the Korean guild names crack me up. Because of the way Korean is written, one word can be written in the space of one English letter. So you can get some CRAZY long guild names. One guild name was the entire first line of the Korean national anthem.

The US equivalent would be like seeing this:
Oh say can you see by the dawn's early light what so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming Guild has won the favor of the God's for America!

More Koreans can read English than English speakers can read Hangul, I'd be willing to bet, but yeah, it does go both ways, heh.

Any sort of auto translator would be a huge effort, particularly with the way Korean as a language functions.

However, they could always implement something similar to FFXI, where there were pre-made words and entire sentences you could put down that would translate into the language of the viewer. Of course, FFXI has only two language groups, compared to Guild Wars' five, so...

I have an idea. How about give the Korean teams a section in the Guild (g) menu where the leader can type in an english translation or alias.
